Background and experience

Tom was awarded a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology with Distinction after completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium. After his studies, he worked at a psychiatric hospital in the department of Acquired (or Traumatic) Brain injuries. In this setting he conducted individual and group therapy with an additional task of conducting neuropsychological assessments. After his location to Australia and entry into the Central Queensland area, he has subsequently completed a further two years of clinical supervision in Australia with membership into the College of Clinical Psychologists upon completion. During this time he built up experience in the non-profit sector, the CQU wellness clinic, mentoring and supervising clinical psychology students, adolescent counselling (at Head-space and in his private practice). Tom has experience conducting clinical, cognitive and psychosocial assessments, as well as delivering both individual and group interventions.

Tom believes in a multifaceted approach to therapy and tailors the sessions according to the client’s requirements. He is passionate about his work and has a keen interest in psychoanalysis and the history of psychology in general.

Availability

Tom works in private practice in Yeppoon and Rockhampton, does outreach in Mount Morgan and provides lectures contractually to external organisations. Appointments are generally available for new and continuing clients within a 2-3 week period.
